BLACKPINK's "BOOMBAYAH" Becomes First K-Pop Debut MV To Reach 1.9 Billion Views cover

BLACKPINK has made YouTube history once again. On the morning of October 4 KST, the group’s debut music video “BOOMBAYAH” surpassed 1.9 billion views on the platform.

According to Soompi, “BOOMBAYAH” is now the first K-pop debut music video ever to reach the 1.9 billion milestone on YouTube. The achievement also makes BLACKPINK the first K-pop artist in history to hit 1.9 billion views with three different music videos — “BOOMBAYAH” joins “DDU-DU DDU-DU” and “Kill This Love” in the club.

BLACKPINK originally released the “BOOMBAYAH” music video on August 8, 2016 at 8 p.m. KST, meaning it took the video just over 10 years, one month, and 25 days to reach 1.9 billion views.

The milestone extends BLACKPINK’s long-running reign as one of YouTube’s most-watched K-pop acts. The group, which debuted under YG Entertainment in 2016, has consistently set and broken viewing records throughout its career.

No official statement was available. For now, BLINKs can celebrate yet another record — and press replay on the video that started it all.
